CV Joints

CV and Driveline Joint Components

CV joints and driveline parts that transmit torque smoothly.

This group includes inner joints, outer joints, half shafts and complete assemblies. Wear can cause clicking while turning, vibration under load or grease leakage. Match parts by spline count, ABS tone ring type and shaft length. Inspect boots for cracks and replace failing boots early to avoid joint damage. Proper CV joint function keeps the driveline stable during acceleration and cornering.

CV joints are an integral part of a car's drivetrain system. They are located at the end of the driveshaft and are housed on the CV axle. In a front-wheel drive vehicle, there are four CV joints: two inner joints and two outer joints. The inner joints link the CV axle to the transmission, and the outer joints link the CV axle to the wheels. The most commonly used types of CV joints are ball-type and tripod-type. In front-wheel drive cars, ball-type CV joints are used on the outer side of the drive shafts (outer CV joints), while tripod-type CV joints are mostly used on the inner side (inner CV joints). CV joint problems can arise due to wear and tear over time or due to damage caused by road debris or accidents. Symptoms of a bad CV joint include clicking noises when turning, vibrations while driving, grease leaking from the joint, and a clunking sound when shifting gears
